Some time ago I wrote a post about trying to get links from Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
I have spent some time researching this and am making some headway.
Facebook is somewhat forthcoming in that you can easily place links to your sites from your Wall or Links tabs.
As far as I can see the major problem is getting enough Friends to make a difference to your Blog traffic.
The links are good as far as back links to your site are concerned but i am still working on ways to get traffic from Facebook back to my Blog.
The first thing I have done is to create a Page on Facebook. From your normal account you can create a separate Page with its own features. Pages allow you to do what the Normal account doesn’t.
For instance.
- Video allowances rise considerably for your page from the paltry 2Mb to 1000Mb plus.
- Pages can also contain News feeds and Rss feeds.
- The applications you can install are more numerous.
I am still experimenting with this and will update if I manage to increase traffic to my Blog from Facebook.
Other things I have done to help increase traffic are.
- Installing an Rss Feed on my Blog.
- Installing a ShareIt feed which visitors (and you) can use to share the posts on most of the big Social Networks including Facebook, Twitter, Delicious and many others. The ShareIt application also includes the facility to e-mail or Bookmark your Post.
- I also linked my Twitter and Facebook pages so that if I or someone else links to the post, it is automatically shared on both sites.
- This gives automatic tweets on Twitter and automatic posts on Facebook which has to be good.
- I try to put in extra Tweets and facebook posts so that I do not have too much duplicated content, we’ll see how this goes.
For your information the Rss and ShareIt applications are Plugins that you can download from Wordpress and you will probably have to download and install the Feedburner Plugin too. Feedburner is now operated by Google but works in much the same way as it did before.
Thanks for your visit.
