Working my way through setting up my latest site www.professionaljoinery.co.uk, (I am a Joiner by trade). I needed to set up a lightbox. This consists of graphic thumbnails which, when clicked or hovered over by the visitor, produces a larger image and blacks out the screen.
This proved harder to do than I thought it would. I went through the Photoshop routine and after some fruitless hours got it to produce a passable version of what I needed, that after having to download and install the Lightbox Plugin from Photoshop.
Refusing to settle for less than I required, I persevered, searching many Internet sites for some sort of informaation that would produce what I was looking for, and what everyone else seemed to be using on their web sites.
Finally I came accross a software program called Visual Lightbox.
The option to download and use it free was too much to resist, even though this leaves a
hyperlink on each of the enlarged pictures back to the Visual Lightbox web site.
After ten minutes the software produced just what I was looking for.
The software produces scripts for you to copy and paste into your Web page, (or you can just use the html file as part of your web site.
It was so easy to use I just had to pass on the info’ to anyone else who is looking for something similar.
As with every script there is sometimes a drawback, the Lightbox script is no exception.
Through no fault of the software I found that, when used with certain Css files on the same page, the Lightbox script did not work correctly.
The answer to this was pretty easy to sort by putting the lightbox Head script at the very top of the page.
Everything then worked fine.
Needless to say, I re-visited the Visual lightbox sight, paid my $25.00 to enable me to use the Software without the afore mentioned hyperlinks and am now using the software with no problems at all.
For an example visit http://www.professionaljoinery.co.uk/gallery.php take a look and if this is what you are looking for go get the software from Visual Lightbox. I can recommend it.
All the best in your Internet Adventures
Ken
